Word of the Year: Content Vol 15

Content

adjective  simple definition:  pleased and satisfied, not needing more

While mowing lawn I was looking at the dirt spots under the swing set and how I am NOT ready for those dirt spots to begin growing grass again!  Reminded me of this song.

The Green, Green Grass of Home
by Erma Bombeck, written November 1971

When Mike was 2, he wanted a sandbox, and his father said:

"There goes the yard We'll have kids over here day and
night, and they'll throw sand into the flower beds, and cats
will make a mess in it, and it'll kill the grass for sure."

And Mike's mother said, "It'll come back."

When Mike was 5, he wanted a jungle gym set with swings that

would take his breath away and bars to take him to the summit,
and his father said: "Good grief, I've seen those things in
back yards, and do you know what they look like? Mud holes in
a pasture. Kids digging their gym shoes in the ground. It'll kill the
grass."

And Mike's mother said, "It'll come back."

Between breaths, when Daddy was blowing up the plastic swimming

pool, he warned: "You know what they're going to do to this
place? They're going to condemn it and use it for a missile site.
I hope you know what you're doing. They'll track water everywhere
and have a million water fights, and you won't be able to take
out the garbage without stepping in mud up to your neck. When we
take this down, we'll have the only brown lawn on the block."

"It'll come back," Mike's mother said.

When Mike was 12, he volunteered his yard for a campout. As they
hoisted the tents and drove in the spikes, his father stood at the
window and observed, "Why don't I just put the grass seed out in
cereal bowls for the birds and save myself the trouble of spreading
it around? You know for a fact that those tents and all those big
feet are going to trample down every single blade of grass, don't
you. Don't bother to answer. I know what you're going to say.

'It'll come back.'"

The basketball hoop on the side of the garage attracted more crowds
than the Olympics. And a small patch of lawn that started out with
a barren spot the size of a garbage can lid soon drew to encompass
the entire side yard.

Just when it looked as if the new seed might take root, the winter
came and the sled runners beat it into ridges. Mike's father shook
his head and said, "I never asked for much in this life - only a
patch of grass."

And his wife smiled and said, "It'll come back."

The lawn this fall was beautiful. It was green and alive and
rolled out like a sponge carpet along the drive where gym shoes had
trod ... along the garage where bicycles used to fall ... and
around the flower beds where little boys used to dig with
iced-tea spoons.

But Mike's father never saw it. He anxiously looked beyond the yard
and asked with a catch in his voice, "he will come back, won't he?"

Yes it's exhausting raising tiny humans like my mug says but OH SO worth it!!!!

Meal Planning 6/28

I've been meal planning for many months now, it saves my family so much money and mommy stress at about 4 o'clock!

Summer makes for a bit more interesting which means I need a lunch menu also!!!!

Craziness of our days normally means simple filling lunches with sandwiches, veggie, and fruit!

What's on your menu for the week?!?!?!?

The last few months I have been doing a "Currently" post.  It is fun for me to think about my week. To open up, and show bits and pieces of my daily thoughts, and life.

Changes...I'm blond again!!!  And VERY blond, it is going to take a bit for me to get use to it.  Now I can officially have 'true blond' moments!!!!

Date Night...Friday's are my bee allergy shot days.  I've been having some weird reactions so my hubby decided to drive me this time.  We ended up going without any kids.  So date night at the doctor, grocery shopping, and a quick supper.  So nice to get these rare occasions with just him!

Enjoying...My 5 year old asked if he could brush my hair.  He did a GREAT job and lasted a full hour before I told him he really needed to go to bed.

Hope you have a blessed week!

Meal Planning 6/21

Last week I started sharing my meal plans for the week.  I've been meal planning for many months now, it saves my family so much money and mommy stress at about 4 o'clock!

Summer makes for a bit more interesting so this week I started a lunch menu besides!

The last few months I have been doing a "Currently" post.  It is fun for me to think about my week. To open up, and show bits and pieces of my daily thoughts, and life.

Enjoying...Some time at the park with the kids after chiro appointment, lunch out, and shoe shopping.  The weather is BEAUTIFUL today!

Nature...Overflow from the dam in our little local town.  We had quite a bit of rain last week and I took a walk during softball to check out the water in the overflow!

Menu Planning...Sitting down today to do the weeks menu with the kids.  Here's last weeks homemade pizza with stuffed crust even!  This weeks menu will be posted tomorrow.

Baseball....Baseball, softball, and Tball. Zeke started Tball last week and really enjoying it this year! Just means a couple more weeks of Monday through Thursday of some sort of ball practice.  Yes, I've turned into baseball mom!!!!

Have an AMAZING week!!!  I know that is what the plan is here.

Menu Planning

The last couple months I have been menu planning.  Not only does relief the supper time stress, the kids really enjoy having an imput.  They also ask for some meals that we don't have very often.  Amazing how they seem to enjoy a meal even more when they picked it out!

This week, we have softball, tball, baseball, so lots of evening events.  So simple, easy, fast, sometimes on the road meals!

Here is our simple menu this week....

Blessed....Our little town does a community Vacation Bible School.  They do an amazing job each year.

Enjoying...The yard right now is so lush.  My husband complains about how often I need to mow lawn yet the farm girl in me is glad since we will be getting really good hay!  Updated a little yard decor yesterday.

Juggling...Currently the kids are out of school, crazy baseball/softball schedule, potty training toddler, keeping everyone in clean clothes, relatively happy!  That list tends to leave mom feeling pretty overwhelmed and no time to herself.  I'm hoping to work a bit on that this coming week!!!!!!!

Sometimes you just have to go pick flowers to make it through the rest of the day, like I shared on Instagram last night.

Quote for the week...Weeks like the one coming up I need a reminder to keep me going!

Thankful...For my sister and brother in law!  They invited our family to ride with them to North Dakota for their daughters wedding.  My kids had a blast in the RV with them and spoiled us.  My brother in law even fixed everyone his signature breakfast even though he was exhausted from driving through the night.
Blessed...To be part of our nieces wedding.  My hubby preformed the ceremony and Hannah was the flower girl.  Beautiful day for a beautiful wedding.

Loving...The renewed relationship my sister and I are building.  On our way home she drove for awhile and we got to see this beautiful sunset together and a really good talk!

Looking forward to...Another busy week to come.  More baseball, VBS, summer vacation, and just time as a family!
