Word of the Year: Self Care Vol 13

Self Care Vol 13 Doing Something For Someone Else

What does self care mean?  Self care is any activity that you do voluntarily that helps you maintain your physical, mental or emotional health.  It can help you feel healthy, relaxed and ready to take on your work and responsibilities.

Month or so ago, we moved Kezia upstairs with the rest of the kids.  With her moving out of the 'nursery' all of a sudden we had a room open we haven't have open in a few years!  After leaving it empty for a few weeks we came to a final decision as a family we were going to turn it into a  music room.  Things slowly started to morph...it has become the 'Music Room/Study/Dad's Room'.

The room also kind of became my way of serving and surprising my husband with something just for him.  I bought a brand new reclining chair to go in there, a clock, and a new lamp.  Coming from frugal me, this was a big deal!

Still a couple more things to do like find the instrument hangers.

The organ moved from the playroom/office area to in the music room.

All in all it gave me just as much pleasure to put this room
together as what my hubby felt when he came home to it!

This Old House: Mini Remodel

This Old House Edition:  Mini Kitchen Redmodel

So this has been a work on process for a LONG time!  Adding more cabinets, fixing a wall, painting, etc.  We still have a bit more to do but here is what we did this week.

What we had hoped was a simple fix of crumbling plaster
by putting a couple sheets of paneling over...

Turned into this!!!!!

Thankfully I have a VERY handy hubby and he knew how to fix it.
Off came all the plaster and on went the paneling.

Yes, my fridge sat in the middle of the kitchen floor for a few days.
Blocked the dishwasher.  Plaster dust ALL over the house.
I ended up not feeling well a couple days but....

Here is the finished project!

So much brighter!  And fits our Old Farmhouse

Since I was already in a mess and moving things around.
I also moved our dining room table.

Currently 4/17

I've have been doing a "Currently" post for quite awhile now.  It is fun for me to think about my week. To open up, and show bits and pieces of my daily thoughts, and life.

Enjoying...Nicer weather and cleaning off the entry hooks with just spring jackets and mud boots.  It is the midwest so I haven't washed and boxed up the snow gear quite yet!!!  But it's nice to have a little more room in the entry again.

Changes...One of the many changes this week was my dad came and took down a tree that was dead outside our door.  Among other things we changed up a few things in the house.

We also did a small kitchen remodel and changes in the old nursery.  More to come on that this week.

Laughing at...Kezia, 'look mom, my baby is wearing Uncle Jim's shoes, hehe.'

Birthday Party...Hannah's birthday isn't until the end of the month but we did her party this weekend.  Fun Power Ranger theme party.

Word of the Year: Self Care Vol 12

Vol 12 Unplug and/or STOP Making Comparisons!

What does self care mean?  Self care is any activity that you do voluntarily that helps you maintain your physical, mental or emotional health.  It can help you feel healthy, relaxed and ready to take on your work and responsibilities.

It's so easy with social media to make comparisons and be discontent.  If that is you, it might time be a good to unplug from social media or even really monitor how much time is spent 'online' for a bit.

All the resources online are great and staying current with friends/family from far away.  Yet sometimes it's easy to fall into the pit of comparing yourself and family to others.  Remember social media tends to only show the best.  While working through this mini remodel that we have been working on it's been slightly eye opening for me. Love the resources like Pinterest but in the end I'm content with making it my own and my own style.  Yes I LOVE input from others and will probably get some this weekend when everyone is here but it will be just that, input.  Be on the look out for both sides of our project, I will share the craziness that went along with the project not just the good that honestly that all I really want people to see.  Yet it's all a process.

Currently 4/11

I've have been doing a "Currently" post for quite awhile now.  It is fun for me to think about my week. To open up, and show bits and pieces of my daily thoughts, and life.

What a week...Sunday we had super nice weather then...

last night SNOW!!!!!

Welcome to Wisconsin, don't like the weather,
wait a few hours it will probably change.

Small repair in my kitchen is turning into a much BIGGER repair.

Which is going to lead to some 'spring cleaning'
being there is plaster dust everywhere!  Might need
some extra help to get it all done, this blend will be in
my diffuser this week!!!!!

Especially being Miss Hannah's Power Ranger Birthday Party is this weekend!

Growing up too fast...Another Expo in the books last night.  Love walking through and seeing all the kids projects.

Love...Aldi flowers, nice to be able to pick up affordable flowers that last over a week to brighten up the dining room table this week.

More on the birthday party and kitchen project next week!

Word of the Year: Self Care Vol 11

Vol 11: Taking time for a project that bring a smile to your face

What does self care mean?  Self care is any activity that you do voluntarily that helps you maintain your physical, mental or emotional health.  It can help you feel healthy, relaxed and ready to take on your work and responsibilities.

One, yes I know it's not Thursday, I've been a bit busy.

Two, I've actually been working on a couple projects in the last couple weeks.  And honestly this is bringing me MUCH joy plus some added stress!  Decisions can sometimes be hard to make but am so thankful that I have the time, energy, and motivation to work on a few projects in the house.  I will be revealing these projects in the next couple weeks as I finish them up.

Want a sneak peak?!?!?  Here's a teaser...
