Currently 12/28

The last few months I have been doing a "Currently" post.  It is fun for me to think about my week. To open up, and show bits and pieces of my daily thoughts, and life.  I'm linking up with Becky from Choose Happy.

Amazed....Sitting thinking about how fast these kiddos are growing up.  My 4 year old sitting tracing letters and knows most of his letter sounds!

Bowling....Saturday night we went with a group from church and our guest speaker to go bowling.  It had been years, the kids really enjoyed themselves.

Enjoying...Family game night! We were able to play Dutch Blitz with almost everyone.  Baby girl did an excellent job entertaining herself.  Amazing how fast the kids grow up!!!

Making....Yesterday the kids and I bought fabric for their annual New Year's Eve jammies.  They are super excited.

More details later this week on our PJ project.

Easy Crockpot Sweet Potatoes

A friend gave my hubby a big box of organic produce.  We are going to eating good this week!  Look at all those sweet potatoes and yams.  Sunday I made the following recipe...

Easy Crockpot Sweet Potatoes

4-5 Sweet Potatoes peeled and cut into 1 inch cubes

1/4 cup olive oil

2 tb minced garlic

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp sea salt

  1. Add extra virgin olive oil to slow cooker and preheat to high will preparing potatoes.
  2. Add these ingredients to the slow cooker, and coat with the olive oil.
  3. Cover and cook on high 2-3 hours or low 4-5 hours.
  4. Serves about 6 side portions.
Super yummy, I will be making these again from the sweet potatoes and yams.

New Friends....We are dog sitting for a few days.  Our kids are not the biggest dog lovers around.  Thankful that so far they have warmed up to Miss Pepper!

Baking....More yummy Thanksgiving food.  Last night we had another Thanksgiving meal with my brother in law's side of the family.  Our nephew who is in the Marines was not able to be home for Thanksgiving, he is home for a couple weeks and had a Thanksgiving meal with him.

Kids playing before the meal.

Enjoying...My candle from Nelis' Dutch Village Holland, Michigan.  Special treat from my dad during our Michigan trip over the summer.  Friday night I was home with couple kiddos not feeling 100%.

Neat video on how they are made  Candle Making

Quote for the week....After a kind of tough week, this is my quote for myself this week!

What a week it has been, I'm looking forward to the kids winter break and just spending some time together!

Have a blessed week!!!!!!

Winter House Tour

Welcome to 'This Old House Winter House Tour'.  This super warm Midwest December has not got me motivated to do much winter decorations.

Welcome to the entry

Let's move to the dining room.  The china hutch makes a good place to hang banners.

Village, this year I didn't put up the train like I normally do.

Next is the living room.  Last year I made my snowflake and was excited to be able to hang it on the mirror this year.  And fun chalk print outs.

And the Mason jar snow globes the kids made last year.

Paper snow flakes for the kitchen windows that the kids made!

And last but not least the Snowman Fridge

Hope you enjoyed the quick winter house tour.  Maybe there will something new up for the annual New Years Eve party at This Old House.

December Catch Up

This month is flying by.  I had a bunch of posts started but ever finished.  Life happens...little recap of our last few weeks, couple 'what I wore', some thankful.

Thankful... Ever been given something you didn't want?  In my diamond club travels I was given something I didn't even know I received until this week.  Some fine little Lone Star tick decided to become my friend apparently and shared with me.

Being a Mom of 4 life can get busy but joint inflammation, headaches seemed to be more then normal in the last couple months.  Then hives, and respiratory issues which lead me to go to the doctor and do blood tests to rule out the crazy things!
That fine little Lone Star tick gave me ehrlichiosis. Praise the Lord nothing more serious.  I will not feel 'normal' whatever that is for a few more months.  But in the process of taking care of it!

Sneak Preview Winter House Tour....Hung my snowflake again this year.  Love how it adds to the room.

What I Wore....My sister asked if I wanted to meet at our parents and go for a walk.  So here we are.  Don't we look so nice and coordinated even.   I've still for the most part following the 'No Pants November', it might of just stuck.

Skating...I haven't gone skating in years.  The youth have been trying to go once a month for Christian Music Night.  Saturday night I decided to join them. Had a blast.  The big kids are getting really good!

Baby girl was enjoying herself also!  She had lots of people to entertain her.

Little catch up on what has been happening in our lives last few weeks.
