Word of the Year: Content Vol 4

Content

adjective  simple definition:  pleased and satisfied, not needing more

Lately I have been going through a lot of personal development.  I was challenged to find an inspirational quote for a fitness group I am in and this quote hit it right on the head for many areas.  Not only in fitness but also business, relationships of all sorts and life in general.

If you aren't happy with what you have, it causes so many issues.  But it also doesn't mean that you stop working for what you do want!!!!!!

NEVER stop trying to be better!!!  BUT also be content with what you have.

The last few months I have been doing a "Currently" post.  It is fun for me to think about my week. To open up, and show bits and pieces of my daily thoughts, and life.  I'm linking up with Becky from Choose Happy.

Loving...The 30 degree weather on Sunday.  This little girl LOVES to swing and was very upset when I told her we had to go inside.

Recharge....Sunday morning I went to town for groceries.  Yes it had been awhile, my first stop was Aldi and this was only half my list!!!!!  It was nice to go to the store without kiddos, my little ones HATE to shop so it can be a bit stressful at times.  It made for a very relaxing trip plus a quiet car ride home to do some thinking.

Celebrating....My mother in law celebrated her birthday yesterday!  She is one amazing women, couple years ago we weren't sure that she would still be with us.  Proud to call her my mother in law, she raised an amazing son.  She has touched so many lives through foster care and church ministry.

Playing....During the week I downloaded a dress up game for the ipad.  Someone is loving to design.  It always amazes me how fast these kids pick up on things, my 2, 4, and 7 year old love this new app.

Word of the Year: Content Vol 3

Content

adjective  simple definition:  pleased and satisfied, not needing more

It's Thursday again and time for Content Thursday.  Last night I was challenged by my mentor to think about, 'if you were given $1000 today, how would you spend it?  You are not allowed to use it for bills.'  Since my first thought was to stick it in savings, I had to quickly think about something else.  My first thought was to help a friend that could really use $1000 today!  Yet the more I thought about it the harder it became.  Sadly it felt like it wasn't enough, the things I want to do $1000 doesn't seem to scratch the surface.  Does that mean I'm not content?  Or that I have dreams that I want to work for?!?!?!?!?  There is nothing wrong with dreaming and striving for something greater, as long as it doesn't consume you and forces you off course or leaves you feeling discontent.

Never fails, this morning during my devotions these two verses came up.

How often do we go to God but it is for our selfish need/needs?!?!  In the last couple years I have tried very hard to write 3 or more things I am thankful for each day, no matter how the day looks or the days have been.  You can always find something to be thankful for!  Be peaceful and content on purpose is something we have to do for ourselves.

Peace I leave with you.  My peace I give to you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.  John 14:27

After my 'thanks' in my journal, I then write 'prayers', so many times I can look back in the days and find my prayers have been answered and are now can be added to thanks.

And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance, endurance produces proven character, and proven character produces hope.  This hope will not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has given to us.  Romans 5:3-5

Today is a new day.  Will you choose God's peace and contentment?

This Old House: Be still

Frosty trees, snow covered ground, heater to keep my feet warm, coffee cup in hand, little ones still sleeping....I'm enjoying a minute of peace and quiet before the second set of my morning starts.  My to do list is long and some of it time sensitive, yet some morning I need this recharge.  And the reminder to 'Be still, and know that I am God'.

Have a blessed weekend!  I know ours is full of lots of activities and company.

Content
adjective  simple definition:  pleased and satisfied, not needing more

This morning as I'm sitting to write I am having a hard time putting words to my thoughts.  Yesterday I took the 16 Personalities test online.  It was interesting to see how many characteristics were correct about me.  The last few months have been a challenge with my Ehrlichiosis and I have found some of my personality traits have changed with physical challenges. Yet today...I'm content to be me!!!!!

I challenge you today to take the 16 Personalities test at  www.16personalities.com, find out your strength and weaknesses, friendships, parenthood, career paths, and work place habits.

Loving...Saturday night we went skating again with some of the church youth and some of our kids.  Miss Hannah is really finally feeling more comfortable and confident in her skating!  Love this picture of her and her daddy.

Watching...Yesterday afternoon we ventured out in the cold and took in a local bluegrass concert in Eau Claire.  Seeger Boys are always a good time, plus we got to hear my best friends husbands band Midnight Coal Company for the first time!   The finale of the two bands together was really good too.

My view....This morning I am enjoying a few minutes of peace and quiet and this beautiful view out my office window!

Crazy week...Today is shaping into a crazy week.  I haven't even started my 'THIS WEEKS'S MUST DOs' list or anything beyond today!!!  First I need a cup of coffee.

DIY PJs

Last few years the kids have sewn New Years Eve PJs.  It is a fun tradition we have started.

To get a decent picture of these guys can be very challenging!

Baby Girl picked Minnie Mouse flannel.  For her shirt I cut a circle and I zig zagged it on a white tee shirt.

This little guy picked Paw Patrol fleece.  He choose Marshall for his shirt and I also cut out the Paw Patrol badge to add to his shirt.

Frozen is still a favorite at our house, so Elsa Snow Queen flannel was picked.

This guy did his completely by himself.  He has turned into such a good seamstress.  Storm Trooper fleece was what he wanted.

We have a simple pattern we use.  I normally cut them out for them and help the big kids sew their seams.  In a couple years the big kids should be able to do everything themselves.  They are learning a skill that not all kids get to learn!

Word of the Year: Vol 1

Last week my best friend challenging me to select a single word to guide my year.
Do you make resolutions every new year that you swear you will keep? Only to have them end up on the forgotten or gave-up pile yet again? Try something different this year. Select a single word to guide your year instead. You just might be as surprised as I was at the incredible impact it makes.

I have been praying about a word that fit me.  Three words came to me right away, only to be reading my devotion one day and have one pop out at me that wasn't on the original list!

CONTENT
adjective  simple definition:  pleased and satisfied, not needing more

Title of the devotion was 'Learning to Be Content in Every Situation'.  Contentment is a decision to be happy with what you already have.  You can choose to be content every day. This is worth more than all the material possessions you could possibly accumulate in a lifetime.  What is sure to make us happy? Choosing contentment in the Lord, every day. Saying to God, "Lord, I only want what You want me to have," is the only way to have real peace and lasting happiness.

My goal is each week to post about contentment in my life. This is my challenge to myself and you!   Are you content?

Prayer for the week...

The last few months I have been doing a "Currently" post.  It is fun for me to think about my week. To open up, and show bits and pieces of my daily thoughts, and life.  I'm linking up with Becky from Choose Happy.

New Year...Where did 2015 go?  So many people are saying the same thing.  Seems like the more kids I've had and the older they get the faster the years go by!  New Years Eve we had people over to ring in the New Year.  Kids had their new PJs made, and a few others wanted to sew PJ bottoms also.

Helpers....My helpers making cookies for the New Years Eve party!

Laughing at....This little girl keeps us on our toes and filled with laugher.  Here after church she was 'organizing' her aunties purse, of course accessories required!

Enjoying...My view when I walk out my door each day.  There is something about an old barn in the snow!  We got a few more inches after this picture was taken.  The kids have sure enjoyed more snow to play in.

Currently I have 3 words I am trying to decide between.  The plan is each Thursday I will post something of my selected word for the week.
